Moonshoe

A shoe design collaboration with fellow artist Valeria Watson

The Moonshoe was a shoe design collaboration project with artist Valeria Watson, roommate and and fellow creative. Valeria came up with the ideation and sketch in her Advaned Shoe Design class and I became a part of the project during the fabrication phase.
The inspiration behind the shoe design was our curiosity about the extraterrestrial life, the life on moon, and if we as humans were to one day inhabit that space, what would our attires look like? What would our societies look like? Homes? Life be like?

Post ideation phase we 30 scanned the shoe lass in order to get its precise shape. The initial drawing of the shoe guided the whole design process, trying to keep the rhino model as close to the drawing as possible. Keeping in mind the constraints of the shoe, constantly pushing the boundaries of the 3D printer and PLA, learning about various different processes that go through the making of a shoe made this project as much enlightening as it was fun. The final prototype was 30 printed in Ultimaker S5 in black and grey.
